Swimmer’s Shoulder

Swimmer’s shoulder is an umbrella term given to a range of shoulder dysfunctions which can occur generally with an increased swimming load.

The shoulder relies on dynamic control through range. Of particular importance is the role of the rotator cuff which provides stability.

Examination of a swimmers dynamic control begins with detailed examination of posture, functional movement patterns and various forces around the shoulder joint.

We aim to restore optimal control.

Literature suggests that up to 9/10 cases of shoulder pain in swimmers can be directly fixed with correction of technique.
